Thank you for visiting us here at Mystic Rhythms. It is our goal to supply our customers with any and all of their Ethnic Instrument and Dance Apparel needs. We've been in business since 1999, and in that time have traveled extensively around the country, vending at many different types of events; renaissance fairs, music festivals, and art shows just to name a few.
John Wells, the owner, started out making drums out of the back of a utility trailer traveling from festival to festival back in 1999. Since then he and his employees have made hundreds of drums of many different varieties. His specialty is his Ashikos, made out of a 13 ply Baltic Birch Plywood, which come solely from managed forests. These drums are handcrafted and all one of a kind. They come standard with "Speed Bead Tuning". Bead tuning eliminates the need to do complicated rope weaving to tune the head of the drum, simply slide the beads down evenly around the drum to raise the tone. When you're done playing pull the beads back up to loosen the tension, this helps preserve the life of the head. In addition to his Ashikos, John Wells also hand crafts Djembes, Djun Djuns, Talking Drums, Standing Drums and Dancing Drums. Check out the Hand-Crafted button in our categories section for more details.
The making of any musical instrument by us, here at Mystic Rhythms, is achieved through a passion for the art of music, and artistic creativity. We pride ourselves on our unique handcrafted instruments, as well as all of the other diverse and ethnic items that we offer our customers. We encourage everyone who visits mystic-rhythms.com to become part of our community online and elsewhere. Please check back frequently for updates on festivals we attend and drum circles that we host.
